Overview

Program Description Foundation Studies Program (Fast Track) - Arts (X0G:1) (0100809): The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study. To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English. Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses. Bachelor of Social Work with Honours (A4S): Now more than ever compassionate and engaged social workers are needed to help improve the life and wellbeing of people and to combat societal inequality. Social workers need contemporary skills to respond meaningfully to social problems. University of Tasmania’s Bachelor of Social Work with Honours has been redesigned after direct industry feedback to reflect current and emerging practice trends in the profession. The newly updated honours-level course with specialisation options has been designed to exceed professional accreditation standards, and will give students key skills in ethical, innovative and collaborative social work practice. They will also have the chance to take part in additional project and research work with communities and industry. The new curriculum will equip students with advanced knowledge of social work research principles and methods. It also includes 1,000 hours of supervised professional field education placement. Students will graduate as a creative and ethical communicator who respectfully uses knowledge to meet the needs of diverse social work client groups, communities and organisations. They will be able to respond to social justice and human rights challenges in ways that are culturally sensitive, principled, and effective.
