Overview

Public health matters. Public health is one of the fastest growing careers in the nation. Students have two tracks, two minors and five certificates to choose from and can combine areas to broaden their skills, knowledge and employability. They gain hands-on learning through field internship before graduation, with placements locally, across the United States or around the world. Graduates will choose one of two tracks to focus their studies: community health and environmental health sciences. With this degree, they are on their way to becoming part of the solution as they learn about health promotion, disease prevention and health improvement strategies. The health promotion and education emphasis takes a more holistic approach to health education by covering how broad topics like nutrition, stress and aging affect people's health. Students will learn how to study different populations to examine communal factors that lead to poor health and disease patterns and discover how to promote change.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Verify before applying

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.
