Overview

With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management (B.A./B.Mgt.) or a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Management (B.Sc./B.Mgt.) degree, students can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, for candidates who are interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. For those who are interested in sports marketing, they can major in kinesiology and marketing. The Combined B.A./B.Mgt. or B.Sc./B.Mgt. degree program takes five years (50 courses) to complete and leads to the conferral of two degrees. Political Science is the systematic study of government, politics and political behavior. It studies how a society governs itself at all levels and various ideas about how it should be governed in the future. Political Science students will study how political conflict is organized and resolved in the “real world.” They will look at how rulers are chosen, governmental decisions are taken and how decision-making processes are organized. Students will learn how governments design and implement their laws and policies in Canada and abroad. Students will also consider how political leaders understand their obligations towards one another and how decisions are shaped by different views of “what’s right,” “what works” and “what’s possible” in different circumstances. The Department of Political Science offers four sub-fields of study and encourages students to choose a variety of courses from each area to ensure they gain a broad view of the discipline. These are: Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory. Accountants are central to the operations and strategies of all types of organizations as well as the foundation of short- and long-term success. Accountants provide business and financial advice by measuring, analyzing, forecasting and reporting organizational performance, resources and risk. They are required to have integrity and the ability to think critically, communicate, and interact with others effectively. Accounting students gain technical skills and learn how to address a broad range of business problems. They will acquire and practice the skills needed for success, including writing and presenting, using professional tools and case analyses. Students study financial reporting, individual and corporate taxation, business analytics and information systems, auditing, management control systems and costing, as well as variety of other management disciplines.
