Overview

The combined Bachelor of Health Science - Public Health/Bachelor of Management (B.H.Sc./B.Mgt.) degree program is a rarity in Canada that blends public health and management, and the Dhillon School of Business is the only one to offer this degree at an undergraduate level. Students who choose to complete this Bachelor of Management major may be required to extend their program beyond 50 courses. Please meet with an advisor to determine their major requirements. Bachelor of Management - Economics Economics is the social science that provides understanding, meaning and relevance of human action under conditions of scarcity. In other words, the study of economics enables a more effective use of scarce resources such as the time and talent people have available, the land, buildings, equipment, other tools on hand, and the knowledge of how to combine them to create products and services to satisfy human wants. Economics is a value-free science. It never tells people how to act; it merely shows how they need to act to attain specific results. Bachelor of Health Sciences - Public Health Public health is focused on prevention rather than the treatment of disease. It examines the overall health of a population with the aim of developing strategies to promote and protect health. Through course work and hands-on experience, the public health major at University of Lethbridge will provide students with the skills and tools needed to prevent disease/injury and to promote, and protect the health and well-being of Canadians and populations across the globe. The core of the work in public health is to take steps to prevent chronic and infectious disease before it occurs. Students can join the program to be part of this exciting and rapidly expanding field and have a positive influence on their world!
