Overview

The understanding of making of the modern world has never been more important. Whether it is war and conflict in eastern Europe, political turmoil, social change at home and abroad, the changing role of race, class and gender in modern society, or clashes over monuments and heritage, interpretations of the past influence the present day. The Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of Gloucestershire scored 94% for teaching and 97% for academic support in the National Student Survey 2023. With a focus on Early Modern, British, European, American and Russian history, the University's course explores the fundamental issues, events, and ideas that have shaped the last 600 years. The foundation of the course is the University's small class teaching involving interactive discussions, debates, and hands-on workshops that allow graduates to make the most of class time, while developing key critical skills and confidence.
