Overview

The BSc (Hons) Business and FinTech degree is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving worlds of financial technology and business management. The programme explores emerging technologies such as blockchain, digital currencies, artificial intelligence and machine learning, while encouraging students to apply these concepts to real-world challenges. With a strong emphasis on analytical thinking and problem-solving, graduates are prepared to meet the demands of modern businesses and digitally driven consumers. The course offers a supportive and engaging learning environment, prioritising students’ academic, personal and professional development. Through a combination of live business challenges, simulations, study abroad opportunities and work placements, students gain valuable hands-on experience. A flexible block delivery model allows learners to balance their studies alongside work commitments, while industry engagement ensures they can build a professional network and develop a portfolio of practical projects relevant to the sector. Structured to build expertise progressively, the first year provides a solid foundation in business principles, financial systems, data analysis and emerging technologies. In the second year, students focus on more specialised modules, including sustainability management and industry-specific financial systems, alongside a business challenge project that strengthens decision-making and problem-solving skills. The final year enables students to deepen their knowledge of financial technologies, investment portfolio design and risk assessment, preparing them to apply innovative financial solutions in real-world organisational contexts. Opportunities for placements, internships and international study further enhance employability and global perspective. The programme offers a placement year, giving students the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience alongside their degree and enhance their employability. Typically undertaken between the second and final year, this placement allows students to explore potential career paths, build professional networks and develop practical, in-demand skills in a real-world setting. With many employers valuing prior work experience, the placement year is designed to strengthen students’ CVs and career prospects. Dedicated careers and employment support is available to help students identify suitable opportunities and prepare for their placements, while no additional tuition fees are charged for this year.
