Overview

The BA (Hons) Business Management and Sustainable Practice with Placement Year provides a solid grounding in the fundamentals of business management while equipping students with the skills needed for industries moving towards a sustainable future. As companies pursue sustainability goals across net zero carbon, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability, managers are required to advance businesses while adapting to these priorities. The course integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and UNESCO sustainability competencies into its modules, ensuring students develop the expertise to lead responsible management and embed change within organisations. Real-world learning is central to the programme, including engagement with live industry briefs, guest speakers from the business sector, and the option to undertake a placement year between the second and third years, providing practical experience prior to graduation. Chartered Management Institute (CMI) accreditation independently verifies that the course meets high professional standards in management and leadership, marking it as a high-quality degree. The teaching approach combines interactive lectures, seminars, debates, discussions, field trips, and input from practitioners across the private, public, and third sectors. Students engage with both theoretical and contemporary literature and work on live case study briefs, with strong emphasis on applying concepts and models in real business settings.
