Overview

Bachelor of Science - International Business and Entrepreneurship provides students with insight into new venture creation and growth, as well as the internationalism of business. It equips students with business knowledge and develops their practical skills through a combination of entrepreneurial theory, group work, business simulation games and interactive projects. Upon graduation, students may decide to use what they have learned to launch their own business. The University of Essex is one of just three UK universities to have received Q-Step Affiliate status, including for the BSc International Business and Entrepreneurship, to support the way they develop the quantitative skills of their graduates. This means they can provide work placement bursaries to develop students' skills in evaluating numerical evidence, analyzing data and designing research. They also offer the opportunity to follow a specialized degree path, where students graduate with enhanced quantitative skills. These are evidenced on students' degree transcript, to help give them the competitive edge in the graduate job market. Essex is an exciting place to study entrepreneurship. The county has more start-up businesses than any other in the UK. Essex Business School, where this course is taught, is ranked in the top 25 in the UK for research quality (TGUG 2018). This ensures their teaching is always up-to-date with current and emerging business trends. BSc International Business and Entrepreneurship can also be taken with an optional study abroad or placement year. A degree in entrepreneurship can add to students' credibility as an innovator or business owner while a clear grasp of international business practises can open the door to global trading opportunities for them and their business. Many of the graduates go on to set up their own businesses or consult on business practise straight after graduation as Essex Business School prepares them for the world of work from day one. The BSc International Business and Entrepreneurship curriculum embeds transferable employability skills in analysis, critical thinking, presentation and communication across all modules.
