Overview

The Finance and Data Analytics course is designed for individuals seeking to develop the skills required to analyse complex data and make informed financial decisions in a rapidly changing global market. Through access to industry-standard software and practical projects, students develop the technical expertise and analytical mindset valued by employers across the finance sector. The course includes the option to undertake an industry placement or research year, providing valuable professional or academic experience. This option also enables international students to study in the UK for two years rather than one. A two-year international study visa route is available to support applications for the course. The programme forms part of the Finance MSc. All students complete the same core finance modules before choosing a specialism from seven available areas at the end of the first semester. Finance is a rapidly growing field, creating strong demand for professionals who can combine financial knowledge with advanced data analysis. The course responds to this demand through a practical and industry-focused curriculum. Students gain hands-on experience using the Bloomberg Terminal, which provides access to real-time financial data used by trading professionals worldwide. They may also have the opportunity to earn Bloomberg certification, further strengthening their professional profile. Teaching is delivered by experienced lecturers and supported by guest speakers who provide insight into current industry practices and real-world financial challenges. Students graduate from an AACSB-accredited business school, an internationally recognised distinction held by fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide. Full-time students may also enhance their master’s degree with a paid year-long industry placement, gaining practical work experience and the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting.
