Overview

The Master of Music - Music - Brass Performance is offered by the School of Music, which provides degree options in music education, performance, composition, theory, and accompanying. The mission of the School of Music is to deliver rigorous performance and academic training for students preparing for professional careers in music, to provide musical and educational leadership in response to a rapidly evolving musical environment while ensuring strong foundations in traditional areas of study, to serve the university community through courses, workshops, and performances, and to act as a cultural resource in northeastern Ohio by offering concerts, workshops, conferences, and sharing the expertise of faculty and students with the wider community. Admission to degree programs in the School of Music requires an audition, which also makes students eligible for music scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on the primary instrument, and auditions on secondary instruments are not required. Prospective music minors and non-music majors are not required to audition, though doing so allows consideration for scholarship opportunities.

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.
