Overview

The Master of Taxation (MTax) is an approved Federal STEM degree program designed to provide intensive training for individuals interested in developing specialized skills in the field of taxation. The program is well suited for graduates holding a four-year degree in business or accounting from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or an international equivalent. Courses are offered on a rotating basis in both in-person and online formats, allowing completion of the program entirely in person, entirely online, or through a combination of both delivery methods. The program provides substantive technical and professional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to function effectively as a taxation specialist in the United States. Graduates of the program develop comprehensive knowledge of federal taxation and gain an understanding of state and local taxation regimes of selected states, including the State of Ohio. The curriculum strengthens the ability to research taxation issues, identify and solve taxation problems, and plan effective taxation strategies. In addition, the program fosters the ability to contribute as a taxation specialist to organizational strategic planning and decision-making, demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills, and utilize information technology for researching and resolving taxation-related problems.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Verify before applying

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.
