Overview

The BA (Hons) in Graphic and Digital Design is one of Ireland’s leading graphic design courses, offering a distinctive and immersive educational experience for aspiring designers. Built on over 40 years of art and design expertise, the programme nurtures creative talent through one-to-one tuition from experienced lecturers who tailor learning to each student’s individual creative flair and interests. The course encourages students to follow their passion, develop their design process through research and experimentation, and gain exposure to a range of disciplines that enhance critical and theoretical thinking. Graduates emerge as designers with broad knowledge, an informed worldview, and the ability to deconstruct communication challenges, conceptualise solutions, execute projects, and confidently present their work. The programme provides access to staff with extensive national and international experience in visual communications and fine art practice, along with personal studio space and excellent production facilities in a purpose-built learning environment. Applicants are required to submit a portfolio demonstrating their creativity and skillset, which can draw from secondary school, PLC, or other personal projects across a variety of disciplines including art, design, photography, typography, film, and illustration. Portfolios should be selective, limited to a maximum of 20 pieces, and may include individual works or related series that reflect problem-solving abilities or visual development. Submissions can be presented in person or digitally via the designated portal open from 14th to 28th March 2025. Alternatively, applicants may choose to complete an applied project remotely in March 2025, guided through workshops and live online support, with the resulting work assessed by staff.
