Overview

The BBus (Hons) in International Business is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in domestic and international business contexts. The programme offers the option to study a language such as French, enhancing graduates’ capabilities in global markets. Practical experience is embedded through a 20-week work placement in the third year, providing an opportunity to consolidate and apply business knowledge within an international setting and offering a distinct advantage in securing graduate employment. The four-year honours degree covers core international business subjects, including accounting, finance, economics, management, marketing, human resource management, and computing, with a focus on how companies operate internationally. Students are also encouraged to participate in funded Short Advanced Programmes (SAPs) within the RUN-EU network, enabling blended, online, and in-person opportunities to collaborate with peers and staff across Europe. Global trends, such as shifting consumption patterns and evolving market structures, continue to shape international business environments. Careers in business and finance are experiencing strong growth, with this occupational group showing significant employment increases in recent years. Business and finance skills, combined with transversal skills like languages and entrepreneurship, support Ireland’s position in global trade. With Ireland’s economy heavily reliant on international exports, a degree in international business provides a foundation for careers that can span national and international contexts.
