Overview

The MSc Artificial Intelligence for Business programme is designed to develop graduates with strong skills in artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on business applications. Recognising the growing value of intelligent systems to modern organisations, the programme equips graduates with an understanding of AI technologies, processes, and the associated social and ethical considerations within business contexts. In the third and final semester, students complete a substantial project and dissertation. On successful completion, graduates are eligible to apply for a relevant Level 10 programme. Graduates of this programme are well positioned to pursue roles involving artificial intelligence across a wide range of organisations, particularly when combined with prior academic qualifications and, where applicable, professional experience. The programme prepares graduates for careers in an increasingly AI-driven business environment, with potential roles including data analyst, data scientist, data or AI sales strategist, sales engineer, product owner, and data engineer. The Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence module introduces the mathematical foundations relevant to AI, including linear algebra, probability, and statistics. It develops knowledge of vectors, matrices, eigenvectors, eigenvalues, and matrix factorisation, alongside skills in analysing, visualising, and interpreting data. The module supports informed, data-driven decision-making by addressing uncertainty and quantitative relationships. The Business Artificial Intelligence Case Studies module broadens understanding of AI techniques through exposure to real-world and exploratory case studies. These include examples of organisational AI implementations as well as open-ended scenarios without predefined solutions, encouraging original approaches and critical comparison. The module highlights the diverse applications of AI across industries and develops the ability to critically evaluate different AI-driven solutions.
