Overview

The BSc (Honours) in Digital Animation equips students with the skills to design, create, and animate for both 2D and 3D platforms across TV, film, and games. The programme emphasizes the development of core skills in traditional disciplines such as drawing, illustration, and animation asset design, with a strong focus on the principles of animation. Building on this foundation, students advance their creative abilities while training in industry-standard software, processes, and technologies to bring ideas and concepts to life on screen. TUS Clonmel Digital Campus is recognised as a Toon Boom Centre of Excellence (COE), giving graduates a competitive advantage in studio careers that value expertise in Toon Boom 2D animation and related software. Graduates of the programme have gone on to roles such as rigged animator (2D and 3D), hand-drawn animator, FX animator, 2D rigger, compositor, technical artist, storyboard artist, background painter, layout artist, scene prep artist, art director, animation director, and production roles. Successful completion of the programme also makes graduates eligible for Level 9 and 10 postgraduate programmes at TUS or other institutions.
