Overview

The BA in Business Studies with Sports Management combines sports and business modules to equip graduates with the skills, knowledge, and competencies to pursue careers in sport or business management, enhancing employment opportunities. The programme emphasizes practical, hands-on learning experiences, allowing students to develop their skills through active participation. Professional links with organisations such as Sports Partnerships, the GAA, Camogie Association, FAI, Treaty United, Munster Rugby, Thomond Park Stadium, and Sport Ireland provide opportunities for networking, while placements in Ireland or overseas offer valuable practical experience. The course is designed for individuals with a passion for sport and an interest in a dynamic, global industry. Students gain knowledge in working with athletes, training for performance and health, leadership, governance, sports development, marketing, sponsorship, finance, law, event management, economics, public relations, and human resource management. The programme welcomes students with a positive attitude and determination to succeed, regardless of elite athlete status. Graduates often pursue careers with National Governing Bodies, Local Sports Partnerships, community and voluntary organisations, commercial gyms and leisure centres, TV and media companies, event management companies, professional clubs, and sports agencies. The skills and knowledge acquired are also highly transferable to companies outside the sports sector. Many graduates progress to a one-year add-on Level 8 (Honours) degree in Business Studies with Sports Management.
