The International Foundation Programme – Certificate in Foundation Studies for International Students is a preparatory course designed to provide a pathway for international students to gain experience of third-level education in Ireland and facilitate entry onto undergraduate programmes at Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). The programme equips students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to successfully participate in and transition to their chosen undergraduate programme, maximising their potential for success in higher education. Entry requirements for the programme include a minimum IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent and a high school qualification equivalent to Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications. International applicants are encouraged to apply directly to the Global Office at TUS, allowing sufficient time for visa processing. Applications for a September start should be submitted by 1st June to ensure adequate time for visa arrangements, with consideration given to the processing times in the applicant’s country of origin. The programme includes modules in Personal Development, Intercultural Studies, Communications, Mathematics and Calculations, Learning and Academic Skills Development, Research Skills, Information Technology Skills, Computer Applications, Digital Literacy, and English for International Students (Parts 1 and 2).
