Overview

The BSc (Hons) in Applied Sports Science with Sport and Exercise Nutrition provides a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles and practical applications of nutrition and exercise in sports performance. The programme offers hands-on experience working with populations of all ages, genders, and abilities through modules such as Nutrition Across the Lifecycle and The Female Athlete, as well as during third-year work placements or study abroad opportunities. The four-year curriculum is designed to reflect the dynamic global sporting environment in which sports nutrition, testing, analysis, and related businesses operate. A distinctive feature of the course is its applied focus, with most modules incorporating practical elements to develop core knowledge and skills that prepare graduates to be industry-ready. The programme equips students for careers in both the private and public sectors, including National Governing Bodies for Sport, elite sport teams, high-performance centres, gyms, local authority organisations such as sport partnerships, community groups, and local sport clubs. Graduates of this honours degree meet the entry requirements for the Masters in Dietetics at Leeds Beckett University, UK (subject to achieving at least a 2:1 or 2:2 with relevant experience and skill development). Successful graduates are also eligible for Level 9 and 10 postgraduate programmes within TUS or elsewhere and may apply for registration with the Sport & Exercise Nutrition register (SENr) and the Association for Nutritionists (AfN), providing a strong foundation for further postgraduate and professional study.
