Overview

This Advanced College Diploma - Massage Therapy program prepares students to write the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) examination and to qualify as Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs). Applicants who already hold degrees in athletic therapy, kinesiology, or osteopathy can complete the program in a shorter time frame. Students learn to help others manage pain, increase mobility, and improve quality of life. The curriculum covers theoretical and practical aspects of massage therapy, including functional anatomy, pathology, and a broad range of massage applications and techniques. Participants then work with real-world patients, completing 330 supervised hours in the on-campus clinic and an additional 320 hours in field placements. Students develop and practice skills in clinical and orthopedic assessment, therapeutic relationships, health history, and charting. The program also builds expertise in essential business areas such as customer relationship management, marketing, sales, and financial management, preparing graduates for self-employment or for managing their own clinics. Sheridan’s Massage Therapy advanced diploma is structured to meet the standards of both the CMTO and the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA). Hours completed in the clinic and during field placements may also be applied toward certification with the Canadian Sports Massage Therapists Association (CSMTA).
