Overview

To meet the ever-increasing demand for health professionals, physician assistants has emerged as one of the most popular healthcare careers over the past 10 years. SIU’s pre-physician assistant program offers students a solid science foundation to perform well in their future graduate program. Significant healthcare experience is essential, and students are encouraged to obtain clinical training and licensure and to seek employment in the field while completing their pre-physical assistant curriculum. Pre-Physician Assistant is not a major at SIU. As a pre-PA student, you are indicating your intention to apply to physician assistant schools. Students will need to select a major in which to earn a degree at SIU. Popular majors include Biomedical Sciences and Physiology. SIU's pre-physician assistant curriculum will assure that you are meeting the pre-requisite coursework required by most PA schools nationally.
