Overview

Graduates of the Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program emerge with a top-notch clinical education and a thorough understanding of the cultural, socioeconomic, and societal challenges many individuals face. This comprehensive degree program includes coursework, research, service, and enrichment opportunities in the community. Recognizing that mental health and physical health are interrelated is a key concept, and students gain experience working with individuals with disabilities and physical challenges. The program prepares students to meet licensing requirements in most states and ensures readiness to enter the workforce in private, federal, and state agencies, as well as non-profits. The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling concentration focuses on learning to counsel and aid individuals with physical and/or psychological disabilities. Professionals in this field assist individuals in overcoming or working around their challenges to achieve the highest quality of life possible. Clinical rehabilitation counselors often collaborate with other care providers, such as social workers, physical therapists, and physicians, to facilitate courses of care and empowerment plans. This type of counseling addresses the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of individuals, as well as the relationships that contribute to their well-being.
