Overview

Southern Utah University's (SUU) ALCC Intensive English Program (IEP) is a great program for learning academic English. Students learn English by doing. This means that students do many interesting activities and projects to help them learn English. The Intensive English Program has six levels. Each level can be completed in a 6-week term. Students enroll in two courses at each level. One course is Oral language, and the other course is Written Language. Grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and culture are included in both courses. Intensive English Program is for conditional admission and is designed for students seeking to complete an academic program after the Intensive English Program. Accordingly, students must choose an academic program, either undergraduate or graduate, to study in the IEP program. Graduate students must be conditionally admitted to academic program with department approval before applying to Intensive English Program. Students who apply to SUU can also enter the Dual Enrollment program in their last level of the Intensive English Program. Dual Enrollment students take between 6-9 credits of General Education or major courses and 6 credits of Intensive English. Dual enrollment is only available at the start of Fall 1 term or Spring 1 term. English language proficiency scores required for the Dual Enrollment program within the Intensive English Program: TOEFL IBT: 68-70 IELTS: 5.5 Duolingo (DET): 95

Optional Practical Training (OPT)
