Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Digital Health provides extensive hands-on learning opportunities in business, health, and technology within state-of-the-art laboratory environments, preparing learners for careers in the rapidly growing and essential field of digital health. Program Overview This program is designed for individuals who hold a prior credential in health, business, or technology and are seeking to expand their expertise in the application of digital solutions within the healthcare sector. Students design digital health solutions aimed at improving patient care and develop best practices for implementing these technologies while maintaining patient safety and privacy. Participants engage in simulation labs where they remotely monitor patients using digital health devices and take part in experiential learning activities facilitated by expert faculty. The program emphasizes practical application through an applied research project that addresses current challenges in the digital health field. A flexible blend of online learning allows students to balance their studies with professional and personal commitments. Learning Outcomes Graduates of the program will be able to: Examine the Canadian healthcare system with a particular focus on systems, supports, and tools used within the province of Ontario. Develop, implement, and evaluate digital health strategies and solutions that enhance patient care. Respond effectively to the digital health needs of patients and internal stakeholders. Recommend processes and procedures for the deployment and maintenance of digital health systems. Design and implement digital health solutions that comply with current security policies, provincial standards, and industry regulations. Assess privacy and security policies related to personal health information and electronic records, including those governed by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Apply data analytics principles to produce data visualizations and build predictive models related to disease transmission and treatment outcomes to support data-driven decision-making. Design and recommend telehealth and virtual care systems that promote safe and efficient remote monitoring and patient interaction. Evaluate the use and impact of digital health technologies for self-care and remote care applications. Through this comprehensive, applied learning experience, graduates emerge prepared to lead and innovate in the evolving digital health landscape.
