Overview

Students can study Dance in the heart of the city of Liverpool. Dance can be described as a fluid art form. It is constantly changing, exposed to different cultural contexts, bodily histories and physical disciplines, as well as being influenced by political and social movements. This degree aims to explore dance as a living practice and dynamic art form. Students will consider how dance throughout eastern and western cultures has been cultivated through traditional training practices as well as more contemporary cultural influences. Dance at Liverpool Hope University looks at the bodies, techniques, performances and histories that make up dance practice today. The dance team are all professional practitioners and active researchers whose specialist skills map onto the diverse areas of dance history, dance technique, site-specific choreography, multicultural dance and somatic practice. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside professional visiting choreographers and dance artists. They will perform for public audiences as well as develop a studio practice through one-to-one feedback and group seminars, including regular dance classes and workshops. Liverpool Hope University's Sport and Physical Education degree helps students gain in-depth knowledge about the effect of sport, physical education and activity on individuals and society as a whole. The degree will allow them to explore the impact of sport at the individual, team, organizational and wider community level, from grass roots through to the elite sport. They will examine these issues using applied and theoretical approaches to sport psychology, performance and technique, sport analysis, sport management, sociology and history, and coaching science and development. Studying Sport and Physical Education at Liverpool Hope University gives students a skills-based theoretical, practical and applied experience which is underpinned by a foundation in subject knowledge and research skills. Based on cutting edge research, they will have the opportunity to explore in detail a wide variety of principles and practices in different sports. The degree focuses on core disciplines in the field. These include applied and theoretical approaches to sport psychology, performance and technique, sport analysis, sport management, sociology and history, and coaching science and development.
