Program Description If you hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help you gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of York. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score). Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take additional modules designed to improve one or more of your English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects. Master of Science - Statistics and Computational Finance Train to work as a professional statistician and gain skills and experience working at the interface between statistics and finance. This University of York course emphasises data analysis and will provide students with contemporary statistical ideas and methodologies that are attractive to prospective employers. The skills they gain are useful for a wide range of financial data analysis and in a range of other sectors where data analysis is required, for example sociology, health science, medical science or biology. This experience is also an ideal foundation for further academic study; many York students choose to progress to PhD. York's Statistics and Probability Group has a thriving research culture.
