Overview

Illinois Tech’s B.S. in Biology prepares students to explore everything from molecules to entire ecosystems by developing technical and critical-thinking skills through hands-on research opportunities from their first day on campus, where they will work alongside world-class faculty. Partnerships with scientists at Argonne National Laboratory, BioCAT, and the National Center for Food Safety and Technology help students explore the biology career path they want to follow, whether that’s in health care, research, or food safety. This program combines hands-on laboratory experience, close faculty mentorship, and partnerships with world-class research institutions to give students practical skills and real-world experience. Students can also customize their experience, with flexible start dates in both the fall and spring semesters.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Verify before applying

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.
