Overview

The Computing Foundations – AI Solutions program provides students with introductory knowledge and practical skills in computing, programming, and artificial intelligence. It is designed for learners who want to build a foundation in technology before pursuing further education or entry-level opportunities in the computing field. Students develop fundamental skills in computer programming, problem-solving, data handling, software applications, and the use of AI tools and technologies. Through hands-on assignments and projects, they learn basic coding concepts, computational thinking, database fundamentals, and how AI-based solutions can be applied in different industries. The program may also introduce students to web technologies, operating systems, networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and responsible AI practices. Emphasis is placed on data privacy, ethical use of technology, communication, teamwork, and analytical thinking. Upon completion, graduates may pursue further studies in computer programming, artificial intelligence, software development, or a related discipline. They may also qualify for entry-level technology support roles, depending on their skills and experience.

About the Institution

George Brown Polytechnic opened its doors in 1968, welcoming just over 2,000 students. In addition to programs in construction, early childhood education, dental services and the culinary arts – subjects they continue to teach – George Brown once offered programs that might not be quite as relevant today, like sign writing or watchmaking. Believe it or not, they even prepared students for careers at sea through a marine engineering program. Since then, the student population has grown to over 30,000. People come to George Brown from across the Greater Toronto Area, the country and the world to...
