Overview

The Dental Technology program will prepare students to work in the field of dental technology. Those who want to work in the dental industry but don’t necessarily want to engage directly with client care, should consider this profession. George Brown College recommends that those who apply have an eye for detail, enjoy working with their hands and have good hand/eye coordination. This program will teach students to use a variety of tools to create oral devices that are prescribed by regulated dental practitioners (often a dentist). Students will learn how to use specialized hand tools, molds and the latest technology to make oral devices that are as unique as the individuals students will be creating them for. Students will practice their skills in George Brown College's on-site high-tech dental labs as the school teaches its students to create: full dentures partial dentures crowns bridges implant-regulated restorations orthodontic appliances other specialty items.

About the Institution

George Brown Polytechnic opened its doors in 1968, welcoming just over 2,000 students. In addition to programs in construction, early childhood education, dental services and the culinary arts – subjects they continue to teach – George Brown once offered programs that might not be quite as relevant today, like sign writing or watchmaking. Believe it or not, they even prepared students for careers at sea through a marine engineering program. Since then, the student population has grown to over 30,000. People come to George Brown from across the Greater Toronto Area, the country and the world to...
