In the Environmental Geography course, students will delve into the intricate workings of the Earth and gain a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles that underpin human impact on the planet. The course encompasses a wide range of environments found across the globe, from the extreme conditions of the poles to the vibrant ecosystems of tropical coral reefs. Through the utilization of cutting-edge technologies, students will develop skills in geographical mapping, research, analysis, and problem-solving, equipping them with the necessary tools to tackle the pressing environmental challenges of today and the future. Located in South Wales, the course takes full advantage of its surroundings by organizing regular day trips to Gower, the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, and the breathtaking Brecon Beacons. Additionally, there are opportunities for students to embark on overseas field trips, with previous destinations including the Netherlands and Switzerland. These excursions provide invaluable hands-on experiences, allowing students to witness firsthand the diverse landscapes and environments of different countries while immersing themselves in new cultures and perspectives. One of the highlights of the four-year programme is the option to spend an entire academic year studying at one of the course's partner universities abroad. This transformative opportunity enables students to broaden their horizons, gain exposure to alternative approaches and styles of environmental geography, and explore unfamiliar physical environments, landscapes, and coastlines. The experience also facilitates the formation of lasting friendships and connections with individuals from around the world, fostering a global network that can be advantageous in the future. Studying abroad not only enriches students academically but also equips them with a multitude of life skills and strengths that are highly sought after in today's increasingly globalized workplace. The adaptability, resourcefulness, and resilience cultivated during this experience are invaluable assets that will set students apart from their peers, enabling them to thrive in a competitive professional environment. With its focus on both academic excellence and personal growth, the Environmental Geography course offers a comprehensive and enriching educational journey for aspiring environmentalists and geographers.
