Overview

The MSc in Occupational Therapy is one of the few programmes in the UK available for qualified professionals, offering participants the next step in their careers. It is delivered by a School ranked 2nd in the UK and 1st in Wales for Occupational Therapy by the Complete University Guide 2026. The programme maintains close links with the College of Occupational Therapists, ensuring that the learning experience remains both current and relevant. It provides a strong foundation in theory and occupation-focused practice while building critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students develop the knowledge required to approach their practice innovatively, applying research and evidence to shape current and future practice locally and internationally. This flexible course allows learners to tailor their professional development to meet individual needs through a range of occupational therapy and interprofessional modules—for example, developing skills in patient safety or transforming care systems and services through leadership. Core areas of study include either Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Theory and Application or The Art and Science of Occupational Therapy. Learning is supported by experienced researchers and academics who are experts in the field, and each student is assigned a personal tutor who provides guidance throughout their studies. In addition, participants learn alongside a globally diverse group of peers who are at various stages in their careers, sharing knowledge and gaining insights into Occupational Therapy practice across the world.
