Overview

This programme provides top quality teaching and will appeal to those with an interest in history, geography, archaeology, or wildlife. The course provides graduates with a range of transferable skills in digital media, mapping and communications that are valued by employers. You will learn in many ways in the classroom, in our customised lab, through practical sessions and field trips with a particular focus on history and geography throughout. You will also have the opportunity to undertake work experience with a relevant host organisation. Studying History & Geography in ATU Mayo will allow you to: Acquire key professional skills valued by employers Progress to the Professional Masters in Education Prepare for a career in the fields of history and geography Acquire transferable skills in digital media and communications Gain employment in the public or private sector Become self-employed Progress to study at Masters and Doctoral levels ATU Mayo was the first campus in the country to achieve the Green Flag for biodiversity, awarded by An Taisce on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Students of the History & Geography programme undertake fieldtrips, local and nationally. They also have the option of participating in fieldtrips abroad.
