Overview

Program Description If communication is of interest to students and wanting to explore how humans use words, stories and images to express their ideas, then an English, media, drama and writing pathway could be fitting. The English and writing courses let you develop their own style of writing and explore facets of English language, literature and linguistics that fascinate them. The film and media courses let students explore the culture of communication, and develop their own style of media production – while focusing on the skills and knowledge valued by employers. Students will study classic literary texts alongside genres including sci-fi and children’s literature, and find out how English literature has been affected by, and influenced, culture, language, technology and economics. They will draw on a range of other subjects, including history, politics, philosophy, religion, psychology and the history of art to develop an all-round understanding of the written works that have shaped the world. Students will develop several skills that are valued by employers, including literacy, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, research, and working independently and as part of a team.
